A quick walk through the old city and three major religious visits...

We walked to the old city and saw many highly religious sites... all very close together, think "Why Can't We Be Friends" by War.  First we walked through a maze of tourist shops and wondered does anybody buy this stuff?

We saw the turnoff for the Western Wall (right next to the Muslim Quarter) and were right there at the holiest of all places to Jews.

You can see how close the Western Wall is to the Dome of the Rock.

I wanted to walk through the Muslim Quarter, and what a shock it was when we came to a security check point at an opening in a very rough looking area... I asked the police what was behind... the Dome of the Rock!  We got to peek in thanks to the police officer in the photo with Noa.  There are tourist hours where all can visit.

Continuing on in the Arab Quarter a shop keeper took a photo of me and Noa.

The colorful doorway is typical in the area.

Lastly we saw the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, it was full with religious pilgrims. The photos show the Stone of Unction where Jesus was laid after he was taken down from the cross and my favorite tourist of the day.

  2. Hi Phyllis,

I'm so glad you are keeping up with us. We have been very fortunate with the weather... It's making it more palatable for Noa who misses her friends terribly.

Happy New Year to you... the invitation is still open to visit us here:-)
